Snowy Saturday

We haven’t had this much snow since 2008! But this time we got it all in only 2 days! Crazy!

Chris went out this morning and while he was gone, Zack went out and cleared our driveway/walk and the neighbor’s as well. By the time Chris got back it had started to lightly snow. After lunch the snow picked up a bit and Chris and I decided to go snowshoeing up the hill…

It was beautiful!

   

When we got back, there was a bit more snow and Zack had to clear the driveway/walk once again. He also moved his car into the neighbor’s driveway so it wouldn’t get hit…

Just like every other time it snows, the boys built a snowman… (we missed Andy’s help though)

They decided to build him next to the road…

Then they realized they were going to need a ladder…

Then they thought he could use some lights…

All the neighbors smile as they drive by… :o)

It kept snowing and snowing and snowing… and by the time we were done eating dinner there was a lot more snow! So we went sledding on the street above us. It is so much more fun in the dark! And you can see when cars are coming… not that there were any cars in this weather on our hill.

Chris made a snow angel after bailing off the sled at the bottom of the hill…  

It snowed HARD while we were sledding and by the time we got back you couldn’t even see our footprints from when we’d left!

The bed of the truck was nearly full of snow!

Hard to believe that this driveway and Zack’s car were both bare earlier in the day…

The total on the deck was 11 inches! That’s a whole lot of snow!

After sledding, we built a fire out back and had some hot cocoa. Perfect ending to a perfect day!

We’re gonna miss you, snow! Don’t stay away so long!  

Snow Day

The weather man said it wouldn’t happen but it finally did. It snowed!

It started out pretty light at 10 am and then gradually picked up throughout the day. Zack decided to come home early to beat the snow. Unfortunately he got caught in a horrible traffic tie-up due to a 20 car/semi-truck fatality accident on I-5. Six hours later and after having to chain up to make it up our hill, he made it home safe and sound!

After Zack got home, the snow really started to pick up…

By dinner time, we had about 5 inches!

But since you never know if it will last here in the PNW, we went out to do a bit of sledding on the street just around the corner. Not a lot of traffic up here on snowy days.

But first the boys did a bit of messing around…

It’s an igloo in the driveway…

William decided to try it out…

Everything was covered in snow…

The snow was a bit too powdery to ride the sled down on your stomach… LOL

The guys decided sledding would be more fun if there was a pile of snow to aim for at the bottom…

Yup! It was!

Will got a bit bored and decided to make a snow angel and then bury himself…

He needed a bit of help at the end…

I just had to take a few more shots of all the snow-covered bushes in the pretty pink light from the house…

JD’s Minecraft Birthday

JD and William both had Minecraft themed parties for their birthdays this year. JD told Will that they were best friends because they like all the same things: Legos, Lego video games, Minecraft, (and their birthdays are only a day apart)… It’s good to have someone who likes the same things as you!

Susie and Renee did a great job on his cake! It’s so funny that it is so much like the one I made. :o)

In sticking with the theme, I made him a Steve pillow for his birthday. JD got a lot of really cool Lego and Minecraft stuff for his birthday! Maybe next year I’ll make him a zombie pigman??? LOL
