Camp Deep Creek Day 4

After a long hard day of grueling competition and water slide racing, Maggie and Charlie ate a huge supper and slept like logs. We all enjoyed a slow, lazy morning and waited for the sun to peek out of the clouds.

Stella wanted to explore camp with the rest of us, and she almost made it

but not quite…

Amy and the kids went home and we headed up to Mom and Dad’s for badly needed showers. After lunch, Grandpa brought his “bowling” game to play. Grandma, being the 1952 bowling champ (an inside joke) was really good! But no one got a spare…

Theresa came after work and we built a few more dams to make the water slide even longer and a bit deeper. Even Grandma had to take a run down the slide…

After supper  Theresa got out her telescope and we did a bit of stargazing. It was a bit hazy and the moon was a little too bright, but we learned some things we didn’t know (like the center star in the handle of the Big Dipper is a double star) and saw some great views of the moon.

Camp Deep Creek Day 5

The day dawned cloudy and chilly. But we kept our hopes up that we might get to enjoy our new and improved water slide one last day…

Dad and Mom came to camp, built a fire and we all made biscuits on a stick. They are perfect! Warm and golden brown, stuffed with butter and homemade jam. The epitome of camping cuisine!

The retro game of the day was Jarts. Not exactly the kind of game to play with young children or at BBQs with beer. But it was tons of fun and I didn’t totally stink at it… :o)

Chris drove down to pick us up. Dad brought down the truck to get us out…

Alki Beach Seattle

After leaving Lincoln Park, we drove over to Chris’ favorite place in all of Seattle, Alki Beach. The weather was stellar and perfect for walking along the beach! We went to meet Chris’ family for supper at Sunfish for fish and chips and to meet (the boys and I for the first time) Chris’ Uncle Bill and Aunt Jill from Tennessee.

After supper, we went over to Leslie’s place for ice cream and pictures…

Lincoln Park Seattle

On Friday we went up to Seattle for the day. Our first stop was to explore one of Chris’ childhood haunts, Lincoln Park. What a beautiful oasis in the middle of the city!
