1. We would pay WAY more for a car in Alaska than at home
2. Go to Affordable Used Cars
After we finished our last load of laundry, we embarked on our new-to-us car search.
When it's over 90 degrees, the asphalt parking lot feels about 200 degrees!
It takes a long time to wander through a giant lot of used cars/trucks to see what you want. There were vans just like ours and lots and lots of trucks. We'd been thinking about getting a new truck, so we concentrated our search to that side of the lot.
We found a Dodge truck that we loved and just as we walked into the office to see about taking it for a test drive, someone was in the process of buying it. :(
Our second pick was a 2012 white Toyota Tundra Double Cab. We took it for a test drive and while we were having a mechanic do an inspection, we went to lunch on the Chena River...
We had really hoped to get the truck that evening but it just wasn't meant to be. So we spent the rest of the evening shopping for new camping equipment and replacement items (bedding, swimsuits, air mattress, tent).
After dinner at the Pump House it was still hot out! That's what happens when the sun isn't even close to going down at 9:30 at night...
So we just went back to the hotel, packed up things to pack into the new truck in the morning and went to bed early...
