Axe Men

Today we went up to our friends' land and got some firewood to help keep us warm this winter. The area was clearcut and they opened it up to let us take anything lying around left over.

Like most logging roads, it was pretty rough and bumpy going for our poor old van and trailer. But she was a trooper and made it all the way to the end. And also like most logging roads, the scenery was well worth the drive.

It all brought back memories of growing up selling firewood as a family when I was a kid.

We spent most of the time getting the wood closer to the road or getting the pieces Chris cut up with the chainsaw to the road. The terrain was pretty rough and some of us got a little beat up in the process.

Will found this log at the top of that hill and Zack and Andy rolled it all the way down!

relaxing and enjoying the fruit of their labor

On a bright note, we got even more wood to the road than we could fit in the trailer and there is still more great stuff to get. So we will be back next week with my dad, his expertise, his truck and his chainsaw.

Will, can you hear me? Will!

all ready to go home

Wow that looks like it would be SO much fun!! (Okay not fun but really nice when you don't have to worry about how much it's gonna cost to heat your house come winter!) John is doing the same thing....collecting firewood!!

The Lumberjack Buffet looks delicious! And I'm sure you all worked up quite the appetite.
