This is a post of the pics we took with our family camera while in Yellowstone. I whittled it down the best I could but there are still going to be a LOT of pics! Hope you enjoy them! Yellowstone is truly one of the most amazing places that God created in North America!!!
Yellowstone Lake
The lake has 136 square miles of surface area and 110 miles of shoreline. Its deepest spot is in excess of 390 feet!
The beaches have obsidian in the sand and geysers along the shores in places. Fishermen used to cook their catch right in the geysers in the lake!
Someday we want to take our boat there and camp in one of the boat-in only spots!
Old Faithful
We saw some more pretty sites on the way to Old Faithful…
Old Faithful erupts 17-20 times each day, shooting 4,000 to 8,000 gallons of water an average of 130 feet into the air!
The new visitor center opened in 2010. The Old Faithful Inn was constructed in 1903 and used more than 500 tons of stone for the massive lobby fireplace!
This stretch of the Grand Loop took us past many geyser basins. We also saw quite a few bison in this stretch… they create quite the traffic jams!
We ate lunch and walked “dangerously” close to many boiling hot turquoise pools and geysers here!
Back to camp at Bridge Bay
This was the smelliest and muddiest part of our journey! We also made a stop back at the infamous mud volcano where Andy got into trouble with a wooden railing back in 2001… It was much more enjoyable this time!
