On Thursday we put on our swimsuits, hopped in the convertible, put the top down and headed out for a day of exploring the island.
Although our ultimate goal was snorkeling on the North Shore, we went south first…
seeing those little lifeguard stations always reminded me of Baywatch somehow… LOL
a reminder that even paradise has homeless
Makapu’u Lighthouse in the distance
Before hiking to the lighthouse, we stopped at this viewpoint…
a helicopter was doing some work on the hillside near the marine life park across the street
The lighthouse in on the far south-eastern point of Oahu. It was a pretty hike and at some points it felt like we were hiking in the desert… I think it was the cactus that did it.
It was a gorgeous view from the point but we were kind of disappointed you can’t go to the lighthouse anymore… :o(
After all that hiking some snorkeling sounded nice! Unfortunately EVERYBODY goes to Hanauma Bay and it was closed to any more visitors! It was probably a good thing… :o)
