After seeing the fireworks store, we squeezed in a trip to the Museum of Appalachia to learn about some of the history of the area we were in. It was FULL of interesting items and there wasn’t nearly enough time to see it all but I’m glad we decided to see it in the time we did have.
There were interesting things to see before we even paid our admission…
But there were even more inside…
I thought William would find these things interesting:
They also had lots of things made by locals:
This pot was made by local Native Americans in the 1500s!
Some locals turned famous: (even if it was only locally famous)
Sergeant York
Christy
I can’t remember this guy’s name but he was an interesting fellow… very interesting!
Sam Houston:
Daniel Boone:
Dr Andy Osborne:
And some of the stuff was interesting just because it was:
Civil War and Revolutionary War:
A bathtub from a local mansion: (if you had a mansion, couldn’t you afford a larger tub???)
The museum building and a model homestead:
On our way back through Knoxville, we stopped by a few interesting places before it got dark:
The stadium at the University of Tennessee where the Body Farm is (we took this shot for Will):
