Southern Utah/Northern Arizona - Day Three Part 3

Believe it or not, we still had time to kill before the next thing on our agenda in Page: dinner at a local BBQ joint. But we'd run out of plans. So after a quick check on the internet, we drove to a trail called The New Wave. It got it's name because of the extremely popular nearby trail known as The Wave. I don't think they are really comparable but it was a very pretty hike through the desert.

There were very few people but we talked to a guy who arrived near the same time we did and could point out where the "trail" started up the hill. Turns out he was a talker! He's been driving out from New York City every Fall to hike the trails in Colorado, Utah and Airzona for 40 years. He had a lot of good tips for Bryce Canyon and Zion, too. :)

The New Wave trail was an easy loop around and through some large and unique rock formations. And once again the trail was simply two rows of small rocks on top of very big rocks...

We got back to the parking area just in time to help our new friend from New York help a young couple from Seattle who had gotten their rental car completely stuck in the mud! While we were now starving and totally ready for dinner, he told us there was one more place we had to go to watch the sunset: Wahweap Overlook...

He was right! The view of Page, Lake Powell and the surrounding area was gorgeous in the red and orange light of sunset! We could even see Navajo Mountain in the distance...

By this time we were REALLY ready for dinner! Arizona BBQ never disappoints and Big John's Texas BBQ was no exception. The meat was super tasty but the cornbread muffin was INCREDIBLE! 😋 And it was fun to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the band. Country music isn't awful if it's part of the experience... 😜
