Flying out of Vancouver, BC was so nice because we got a phenomenal deal on our tickets and it's even closer than SeaTac. But when you have a 5:50am flight, it still means a VERY early morning. Getting up at an hour I could stay up until to catch a plane that leaves before your alarm normally goes off isn't the best way to start a vacation but it couldn't have gone any smoother. :)
Having to go through customs in Toronto meant we cut our connection pretty close but the flight made great time and we arrived in Boston a bit ahead of schedule. So we caught our free shuttle to the hotel, checked in, got an Uber and had dinner.
I know everything tastes good when you haven't eaten anything but airplane pretzels all day but the food here was incredible. It was recommended by friends who are currently planting a church in Boston. She described it as, "a lovely dive place with delicious food." And she was right.
It was the perfect start to experiencing Boston. We sat at the bar and everyone from the staff to the customers (mostly regulars) were friendly and passionate about their food at this family-owned restaurant that will celebrate 120 years next year! The bartender told us what to get and we did it. We weren't sorry.
We started with what they call lamb BBQ on the menu but it known as arrostinini. It's just delicious chunks of meat, skewered and cooked over an open flame with fired hot peppers. We were so busy eating, we didn't even get a picture.
We also got a pie with everything on it, including anchovies, which neither of us had before but really liked.
Because of a rookie mistake, we had to toss our toothpaste at security at the airport. So we wandered a few blocks up to the Walgreens for some. Then we Ubered back to the hotel, full and happy and crashed!
