Day three started out early for our day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Thanks to Karen, we had a sweet ride!
We were still so enamored with being in Hawaii that we made a few stops along the way…
Even with the stops, we arrived a bit before they opened and made a quick stop for a coffee at the McDonald’s. I’m a pretty adventurous eater but I couldn’t bring myself to try one of their banana pies. Ugh!
Most of the day was spent exploring the villages of various Polynesian islands and learning all about their cultures.
We learned about cooking, opening and picking coconuts…
How to make a fire with sticks…
I wasn’t very good at the fire thing… ;o)
Chris and I learned how to weave little fish out of palm leaves…
We saw many different island houses & buildings…
We watched several performances…
Took a canoe ride…
Then just before the luau, our camera battery died…
So we didn’t get any pictures of any of the yummy foods we tried or of the entertainment or of Chris & I and the others celebrating anniversaries up on stage. :o(
We didn’t get any pictures of the show we saw either. But we couldn’t have taken any pictures even if the camera hadn’t died. But it was definitely the very best part of the whole day!
Our plans to camp on the North Shore after, didn’t work out. We had to make reservations ahead of time on-line and they locked the gates at 6:45! WAY before we would be back to the park! Kind of sad we didn’t get to camp but glad the island isn’t very big and we didn’t have a super long drive back to the Osbornes’!
