Hawaii Day Eight Sunrise

Saturday started bright and early with a hike to watch the sunrise over Lanikai.

In order to watch the sun rise, you have to get up before it comes up…

I have to say I was pretty surprised that the trailhead was already crowded when arrived. I was also surprised that the trail was so steep that there were ropes strung along sides to help hikers up!

we look pretty happy for it being so early in the morning, don’t we???

At the top there are pillboxes to sit on and watch the sun come up…

The sun seems to come up very slowly…

  There were quite a few clouds on the horizon but it was still beautiful!

  Once the sun came up it was time to go back and get some breakfast…

I think if I’d seen how steep it really was I may not have done it and I would have missed out…
