I can’t believe we took one of our boys to a college visit! Are they old enough for that??? Are we that old already???
Andy wants to major in chemistry at a smaller college not too far from home and Western Oregon in Monmouth seemed like a good choice.
We liked it from the minute we arrived! Everything was well-organized, welcoming and geared towards the students!
After getting our welcome packet and nametags, we went downstairs to the opening and a lovely light breakfast buffet!
They also let you turn in an application upon arrival and they would tell you your approval status before leaving… nice!
After the first group session, we split up for other more specific sessions: we went to housing and financial aid. They were informative and well worth our time! There was also a academics and activities fair where you could speak to faculty from the different departments. Also very helpful!
our very friendly student ambassador
We enjoyed a very nice free lunch buffet and got to visit with one of the big-wigs (I can’t remember his title). But I loved that he actually took the time it visit with each family there and ask questions and learn about what he could tell us that would be most helpful for us! Awesome!
Then it was time for the campus tour…
Many of the buildings are quite old and some are brand new!
The library…
The math building…
I can’t remember??? But I liked the quote over the door!
The fancy new gym…
Check out the rock climbing wall…
The “haunted” old dorm (now office building)…
This was just pretty…
Then we looked at the dorms… No pics. It felt weird taking pics of rooms where people lived.
Back at the student center for the ending session and finding out that Andy GOT ACCEPTED!!! Yay!!! Hooray!!! We knew he could do it!
Then we did a little poking around ourselves around campus and at the library…
Love the story of this plaque!
And of course, lots of books!
They also had a pretty cool staircase…
I think it’s safe to say we fell in love with WOU and are already excited about sending Andy there… and hopefully Zack, too! :o)
