The weather was predicted to take a massive turn on our last day in Montana but we didn't let that stop us from doing a bit of touring around Flathead Lake...
We started off by walking across the highway and exploring Wayfarers State Park...
Then we hopped in the van and set off for Polson...
Our first stop in Polson was Cherries BBQ Pit for some lunch. While we were sitting at the picnic tables waiting for our food, it started to rain. Once our food was ready we booked it for the van and headed to Glacier Brewing Company to enjoy some beer with our BBQ...
We grabbed our cribbage game from the van, bought some locally made cheese curds and had ourselves a regular boneless rib feast!
And then it really started to RAIN! Not Washington rain but real rain. The kind of rain that soaks you to the bone! It was raining so hard, the food truck woman came in to wait it out. While she was waiting she asked if she could join us in a game of cribbage. She had moved to Polson 8 years before from Portland, Oregon where she had been a TriMet driver for 30 years. Eventually she got tired of the violence and packed up and moved to NW Montana.
We didn't have time to finish all of our game before the rain stopped and customers wanted some food to go with their beer. So we packed everything up and got back on the road to check out Kerr Dam...
The view was pretty and all those stairs helped work off all the tasty food and beer. :)
Our next stop was Lakeside where we were meeting up with Shawn and Karen for dinner. But we still had some time to kill and the Flathead Lake Alpine Coaster operated in the rain. So we figured, why not???
It was pretty fast (27mph) and it was nice that they had rain shields to keep us dry. We didn't get any of the pics or video they take of you because I was too cheap to pay $13 for a 60 second video to post on Facebook.
We met up at Tamarack Brewing with Shawn and Karen. Had a ginormous flight of beers with bison enchiladas!
We ended our time with more visiting and games and bed. We slept in a bit. Packed up the van. Said our good-byes and headed home with a stop to visit the new Coconut Kenny's/Downtime in Lake Stevens.
