Music City

It still seems strange that we spent an entire day in the city that is the home of country music, and we had fun…

In case you hadn’t heard, we HATE country music! But when in Tennessee, you go to Nashville.

But as soon as I walked down the main strip downtown, I felt my mind slowly change… How could you not love all that retro neon???

nashville 05And I kinda like Johnny Cash…

The first stop we made was at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Opened in 1960, it has seen many famous country musicians since. We made our way up to the second floor to avoid the crowds and give the band a listen…

nashville 20nashville 28 nashville 27 As you can see, there are boot stores EVERYWHERE! A few even have a “buy one get 2 free” deal. But you need to keep in mind that the first pair is $300 or more. And you have to want 3 pair.

I couldn’t believe it, but the longer we wandered by the stores, the more I wanted a pair. And a hat! Thankfully, I wear children’s sized boots and we found a great store with good deals. Then the next thing I know, I own a pair of cowboy boots! I also picked up a hat to match…

nashville 29I didn’t end up buying either of these ;)

All that shopping makes a girl hungry and want to go to a honky tonk bar to listen to country music and eat a giant plate of nachos. So we did…

nashville 44 it was a BIG bar!

When you eat that much food, you have to walk it off. So we went and did some more exploring…

nashville 35Somehow we made it to the Country Music Hall of Fame…

I was impressed that we’d at least heard of a good majority of the artists on the Walk of Fame…
