CLBI – Camrose, Alberta

Chris was invited to be a guest lecturer at Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose, Alberta and was given the monumental task of doing an overview of the entire New Testament in only a week! It was a bit overwhelming for the students and even more so for poor Chris. But he persevered and made it through the week…

I also struggled through staying with Greg and Barb Pietz in their home and bumming around Camrose (shopping, getting coffee, church, eating lefse, walking around the lake, going to water aerobics, an ice hockey game, Tim Horton’s…Chris did get to do some of these things, too) and exploring West Edmonton Mall. ;o) To make the week even more fun, we woke up to a light dusting of snow one morning!

  

  The mall was pretty cool but my favorite place was back in little old Camrose…

This place had just about everything you can imagine bulk and some you would never imagine…

  

I also learned some things about Canada I didn’t know before: thanks to strict regulations, chicken is more expensive than beef. They are way more multi-cultural! Even tiny little towns have good ethnic foods (except for Mexican food). Their flour has more gluten in it than ours. Those are the only ones I can think of right now… :)

Barb and Greg were lovely hosts and we met some wonderful people while there! I am so glad I decided to tag along…

Lewis River Falls

This is one of the most stunning and beautiful places I have ever hiked. Chris and I went backpacking here last summer with Andy and Will but I wanted Zack and Tatum to see it, too. So when they came home one weekend, we drove out and did the hike… Next time, I am bringing my swimsuit!

      Already looking forward to going back next summer!

Seaside Surprise

After buying the Toyota, we decided to take it for a drive out to the beach. Apparently, so did everyone else on the planet…

The traffic was backed up for MILES and it took FOREVER to get into Astoria! But with blue skies like this can you blame us???

Little did we know that those clouds ahead meant a 20 degree drop in the temperature by the time we reached Seaside!

  Not to mention the fact that there was a car show in town! Despite all the people, we stuck around and enjoyed looking at all the cars! I don’t think I could pick a favorite…

Oh wait… Yes I can! This little number has been my favorite as long as I can remember. Other girls had posters of boy bands on their wall, I had this:

  Unlike today, cars used to have style and class. Each one was unique and a work of art. It was the golden age of the automobile. Just look at the details…

We decided to head out of town before the parade got started and we were stuck! There were people everywhere!

After driving all that way, we figured we should actually go to the beach. We drove back up to Del Ray beach and took the car out on the sand. Unfortunately, it was so windy and cold that we didn’t stay out for long…

On the way through Astoria we stopped at the Fort George for dinner. Not bad, but we’ll be sticking with Rogue from now on.
