Disneyland 2022 - Day 8

Our flight home was really late. That meant we had time to kill. We checked out of the hotel (they kept our bags for us) and went to the Disneyland Hotel. We hadn't been there since the first time we went back in 1995. We checked out the lobby of the convention center and did a bit on shopping.

But it just wasn't the same. No more water shows or remote control boats. On the other hand, we made our very favorite new discovery: Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar!

I heard people talking about it on our first day in the park. Apparently it is impossible to get a reservation and there were certainly not any the entire week we were there. But we decided to try the walk-up list as soon as they opened. Guess what? It worked! We only waited about 20 minutes and we got a coveted inside table!

As soon as we walked in, we knew why... What a fun place! The drinks are strong but not too sweet. The food is delicious! And every so often the squall blows through or a volcano erupts: the room goes dark, sound effects resume, and "rain" courtesy of a very animated bar tender. So much fun!

The decor is fantastic! We even took pictures of the bathroom... :)

Since our new souvenir cups weren't enough we went next door the Tangaroa Terrace next door for a Jungle Cruise boat of Dole Whip!

Even the furniture on the terrace was amazing!

I was kind of disappointed that the Dole Whip wasn't actually in the boat but it did make it easier to take with us...

In order to get our cheaper Uber, we left early for the airport. Just after going through security, we got the text that our flight was delayed due to super cold weather in Bellingham. After our bus ride to the terminal, we learned that even airports punish you with no frills when you fly Allegiant. There was absolutely no food to be had in the entire place except for a few vending machines. Thankfully LAX has a food delivery service. So once the flight to Boise left and we were all alone for a couple of hours, we enjoyed our first ever food delivery...

Our old friend, an Uber Eats driver, Nate braved the cold and late hour and picked us up. And while it was cold in Anaheim it was even colder back home...

Disneyland 2022 - Day Seven

After using the wrong entrance to Galaxy's Edge the day before we had to vindicate ourselves by going to Rise of the Resistance on our last day. Yup. Still a great ride! And we got to see Chewie on our way out... :)

I wasn't taking any chances with the sunshine going away, so we went to Fantasyland for pictures...

We finally rode Storybook Land Canal Boats. And we did it once more after dark before we left, too...

Wandered down Main Street in order to watch Great Moments with Mr Lincoln. But before the show started we did a little looking around at the art displays in the lobby and watched an animator working on a Carl and Ellie drawing...

Then we stopped at the Jolly Holiday Bakery for my favorite treat in the entire park. I love this more than the warm churro we had on Sunday, Dole Whip or hot beignets (Chris' new favorite)! Jay Price once described it as the "best thing he's ever put in his mouth." He's not wrong. This macaroon with raspberry rose almond filling and fresh raspberries in near dessert perfection!

Tom Sawyer's Island is always a favorite. So after a paddle around the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes, we hitched a ride on a raft out to the island.

I love that no matter how many times we go to Disneyland, we always find something new. I'm not sure how we've never seen Dead Man's Grotto before...

The suspension and floating barrel bridges are always a favorite of ours...

There aren't many shows back yet, but The Golden Horseshoe still had a fantastic piano player!

I sent Chris to pick up an order of French Fries and he came back with this, too. I guess the temptation was just too much... LOL

But it was a very delicious temptation!

The afternoon light was perfect for pictures with the 7 dwarves and Snow White's well. But we did have to wait our turn after all the super cute Snow Whites in front of us... :)

We also caught a Frozen cavalcade on the way to Toon Town...

It's a really small coaster and a pretty short ride but Gadget's Go-Coaster is still a lot of fun!

We rode a whole bunch more rides and then while I was in the bathroom, Chris ordered this monstrosity...  The Chile-Mango Whip: pineapple-mango swirl, Chamoy, mango & chile-lime seasoning. It tasted better than it looked. :)

Another new place we discovered on this trip was Bengal BBQ. Not photo worthy food but the skewers here were so delicious we ate here twice!
