Alaska - Day Thirty-Two: 8,360.2 miles to Home

We started our last day on the road with a stop at the 50's-themed visitors' center in Cache Creek.

The scenery changed quite a bit through this portion of BC...

The weather wasn't good on our first day on the road but it was perfect our last day, which meant a stop at Hell's Gate Airtram. Hell's Gate, at 110 feet wide, is the narrowest point on the Fraser River Canyon.

This tram starts at the top of the canyon and goes to the visitors' complex...

There were quite a few things to do on the other side...

But the first thing we did was get lunch. And it's a good thing we beat the crowd because we still had to wait about an hour for our sandwich!

But we had beer and a nice view... :)

We tried some more gold panning... no luck.

Then we walked across the footbridge...

Then we had some Tiger Tail ice cream for dessert. It was pretty darn hot out!

The further south we got, the more forested the surroundings became...

Despite the MANY car theft warnings, we took the risk and hiked out to Bridal Veil Falls near Chilliwack, BC...

But after all the messing around, it was time to drive hard and get home. A grass fire on the side of I-5 and a couple of one-lane construction zones conspired against us, but we made it!
