Disney 2020 Day Two

We are normally never at Disney on a weekend. We decided to sleep in a bit and get into the park a bit later than the day before. The cool cloudy weather definitely kept the crowds down, which made the weather much more tolerable.

We started out the day with some shootin' at Frontierland...

Then we headed to Adventureland for the Tiki Room and all our other favorites there...

William doesn't like the sun (not a problem on Saturday) so this hat would have been perfect for taking the shade with you wherever you go...

I love so many rides at both Disneyland and DCA but Big Thunder might be my favorite ride at Disneyland. <3 div="" nbsp="">

The sun peeked out a little bit while we did some of the classics in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, including Casey Jr Circus Train and Autopia...

we rode in the same cage way back in 2002

being stuck in traffic is the perfect time for a selfie

One of the perks we discovered in Tomorrowland thanks to our Disney Visa is a private audience with Darth Vader. It was actually pretty fun! Thankfully Will's devotion made up for Hadassah's snark... ;)

It's hard not to smile, even when he's being so mean... :)

But he does make for some fantastic family pics!

Zack and Tatum took some time to go to Main Street and have their pictures taken in their super cute Tiki Room inspired outfits, including Zack's traditional Indian pic... :)

Here's the first two from 2011 and 2017...

Before Toon Town closed for the day, we went down to do Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. It's not our favorite ride but it is a little more exciting when it has to be evacuated because of a fire alarm!

Andy and Will had to wait a bit before they were let out... :o

Before leaving Toon Town, we went for our traditional family picture with Mickey at his house...

Here are our pics from 1995, 2002, 2011 and 2017...

We only got standby passes for Fantasmic but Chris and Zack were still able to get us pretty great "seats" for the show. We haven't seen it in a while but it really is great!

The line before Fantasmic was just too long to ride Pirates before the show but Chris and I hurried over and walked right on before the line got long again... <3 div="" nbsp="">

While waiting for Mickey's Mix Magic fireworks show on Main Street, we stopped at the bakery for some dessert. We ate some really good food this year but these were our favorite treats!

the Mickey macaron was the best and was filled with fresh raspberries and the mouse ears are a creme brulee filled chocolate mousse with a mirror glaze

Finally the show started and it was totally worth the wait! The combination of fireworks, projections on the buildings, music and SNOW (yes, snow) is so much FUN!

Disneyland 2020 - Day 1

Like almost every Disney trip, this one began in the wee morning hours. We drove down to Portland the day before, picked up Hadassah on the way south, and spent the night with Andy & Will. Then after not getting nearly enough sleep, we woke up at 3:50am, packed up the truck and hit the road...

Yes, I made a shirt just for driving to Disneyland... :)

We made pretty great time until we hit the Grapevine. The traffic in LA was terrible for after 7:00 at night. :/

But eventually we made it to The Castle Inn & Suites, our home sweet home for the next week.

Before we even unpacked the vehicles, we wandered over to Downtown Disney for a late-night supper of pizza. On the way back to the hotel, we even caught a glimpse of the fireworks at Disneyland...

A late and lazy  morning would have been perfect, but there is no rest when you have to be at the gate when they open at 7:30 so you can be ready to push that button on your phone to get into a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance. Because if you aren't there in the first 90 seconds, you won't get in...

We got in and waited for 8am with the rest of the mob...

It was worth all the lack of sleep because we got into boarding group 82!

Then it was off to DCA and the Incredicoaster at the new Pixar Pier!

I didn't think they could improve California Screamin', but I was wrong. Add in a great story, some new art work and the smell of cookies and you have the perfect roller coaster! <3 nbsp="" p="">
Then Zack grabbed a few Fast Passes on the app and we did the rest of the pier...

Mickey's Fun Wheel

Riding an Emotional Whirlwind (formerly of Bug's Life) is way more fun than you'd think... LOL

Chris and I had to get our picture next to this beauty before riding Soaring. I think we need to get ourselves one (and the canoe, too)...

After finishing all the big rides at DCA, we went back over to Disneyland to wait for our number to be called.

Some of us went back for warmer clothes while the rest of us posed for pics at the entrance...

Chris caught Tinkerbell

Eventually, they paged us that it was time to get in line. Then we waited... for about 90 minutes.  We had no idea what would happen or what the ride was like...

Oh my gosh! Best ride ever! Completely immersive, unique and exciting! Wow! :o

Andy was so excited, he thought about joining the Resistance right then and there...

Then over 25,000 steps, 17+ hours and 28 rides and attractions later, day one was complete!
