A Snowy Busy Saturday

Thanks to the ice, we enjoyed a quiet lazy Saturday last weekend. Despite the snow (it snowed nearly all day), we did NOT have a quiet Saturday this weekend. It was a little full, but LOTS of fun! I can't believe I almost didn't buy cocoa the night before because I figured that the snow season was over. :o)

First I got to enjoy a Mom's Craft Day with some of the moms from co-op. We had a great time as usual. I love being able to fellowship with these moms. It is one of the greatest blessings of our homeschool community. While I was away, the boys had fun too. The neighbor came by and they played in the snow and had hot cocoa. When it was said that a snowman taller than Zack couldn't be built, the boys took the challenge...

he's 7 feet tall!
Our godson, JD turned 1 on Friday! So in the afternoon, we headed over to his party to help him celebrate. We got him a life vest for the summer. I don't know how excited he'll be to wear it though.
he did NOT want to put it on

JD isn't sure what to think of Skink (their pet skink)

To top off the day, we did a shift at the rest stop. On a snowy February night, the 8 pm to 2 am shift is pretty slow. We all got sleepy towards the end of the night and were very thankful that our reinforcements came a little early. Needless to say, it was really hard getting up this morning.

While quiet lazy days are nice, busy days can be nice, too.

That is amazing that Will and my son, Alec, both share a birthday! I had no idea! I hope Will had a good day - wish him a Happy Birthday for us! We had my in-laws over for pizza and cake - Alec enjoyed his day.

Sometimes I marvel at how we ever managed to meet. It all started with an Australian homeschooler's site, which lead to appleleaf's blog, which lead to your blog. God's ways are indeed mysterious!

Stay warm my friend!
Kate

P.S. Our snow really hasn't stuck, which is good for traveling but no fun for my kids. No complaints, it could be worse!

That snowman sure is impressive.
My kids are envious of all that snow because they've never seen snow in their lives.
Your craft day sounds fun.
Hope Will had a happy birthday. Those photos were gorgeous and now your baby is 11!
Blessings,
Paula

Awesome, tallllllllll snowman! That brings back memories of snowdays we had on the farm growing up! (And of the many crafts that you do, Carrie, which one do you choose on a craft day???) I miss you.
