Water Water Everywhere

What do you get when you have 3 weeks of snow quickly followed by 3 days of 50 degree weather and rain? FLOODING!

Our area has been hit very hard the past few days. In fact our entire state has been hit hard. Many areas have experienced flooding, mudslides, avalanches, and road closures (including a 20 mile stretch of I-5).

While many in our community has seen some real disasters, it could have been worse. Thankfully the dikes on the 2 rivers held so that more homes and businesses were not affected.

The boys and I spent the last two mornings out exploring some of the less serious flooding in our area. We took lots of pictures and videos and Zack put them together into this movie.

There is no narration to our movie, so I will try to give a quick summary of what you'll see...

1. our yard
2. the street in front of our house
3. the tiny little creeks that come down off our hill that look more like rivers
4. the main street to our house at the bottom of the hill
5. brand new landscaping that was destroyed at a house on the way to church
6. the canal next to the bike trail we often ride (it is normally about 6-8 feet below the trail)
7. filling sandbags
8. Coweeman River overflowing it's banks
9. sandbagging the church
10. exploring the baseball park (the boys thought it was way more fun underwater)
11. Lake Sacagawea
12. Coweeman River
13. Sears and our church (better safe than sorry)
14. Cowlitz River

If you want to see pictures of the real devastation that has hit our state, visit our local paper at http://www.tdn.com/ . And please be praying for all the families that have been affected by this winter storm.

Great movie guys. We really enjoyed your travels. Thank goodness they were able to get things shored up Wednesday night. The Karlowskys

Great job on the movie. Your town/area is beautiful even when wet. We're thinking of all the flood victims and wish everyone the best.

WOW! Thankfully, not as bad as feared. Has Faith and Fellowship ever been flooded in the past? Great movie and I love the music you chose. Grandma

What devastating weather you've been having. That movie showed how quickly your beautiful snow can turn to sludge & floods. Glad there was no serious damage to your property.
I forgot to say before, it'd be great to see any/all of your family visit Australia some day, and if/when you do, apart from catching up with you in person, we can surely give you many suggestions on your itinerary!
Blessings,
Paula
