This past week we didn’t do hardly any school but we did get a lot of beautiful, well seasoned firewood for the winter. We went up to Sore Acres with the McNews on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Inara found a playhouse in the huge stump
how did that get up there? (it’s a car door)

JUMP!
our junior lumberjacks
This time we borrowed my dad’s truck and his cable and pulled up quite a few big logs. Some we carried quite a ways, too!
they look small but they were HEAVY!
the truck seems extra high when you’re lifting those logs up
now that is a big log to move…
the logs made quite a nice trail when dragging them back to the road
but pulling the truck back up the hill was so easy task either LOL
They were two very long days and we slept very well at night. But God blessed us with terrific company and gorgeous weather!
Inara enjoys the sunshine
Now we just have to borrow a splitter and tackle the pile of rounds and logs piled in the driveway before the weather gets too horrible…
and this is the smallest of the four loads we brought home…

We are praying about receiving/finding more firewood that's low cost or free - is this from state lands? We've almost used up the shy cord that we collected last spring. While we have a gas furnace, it's a dinosaur, older than Methulselah - which costs a fortune to run. This is cute though- last week our little one had a math story problem, with Methuselah in it, it said his age when he died... she says, "Momma, I don't think the furnace is really a 1000 years old!"
To solve your car door mystery:
You're out in the woods and find a random old car door. Someone somewhere would want this, if only they could see it. It's just like a lost hubcap, the owner will eventually miss that other car door and come looking for it. So you prop it up against a tree hooked on a limb. Only nobody wants the old car door and the tree grows and eventually over time, it's a car door 40 feet up in a tree. And that's my explanation to the car door mystery.
