This year’s New Year’s Eve party at church was a blast! We had 60 people come and had a terrific time! There was good food, fun games and fantastic friends!!! What better way to ring in the new year?

Hi Chuie!
Elisabeth, Kaitlyn and Crystal
After everyone else went home, 16 kids from the youth group and Josh & Susie stayed at church all night for their annual lock-in. Thanks Josh & Susie! They had a really fun time and slept great until noon!

When we finally woke up on New Year’s Day (after Chris went and picked up the boys at 7am and all came home and went to bed) we enjoyed two New Year’s traditions. First we went to the after-Christmas 75% off sales. We got some great deals on fun stuff to bring out next Christmas! Second, we went to Vancouver to have supper with the McMurrys. And this year, the Paulsons joined us!
this picture of Zack driving to the mall is the only picture we took all day
It was another wonderful evening with FANTASTIC food (of course, Kate’s food is always fantastic) and even better company! It was the perfect start to 2010!!!
Wonder what God has in store for us this year???

60 people is a great turnout! We'll just have to figure out how to shorten the 2hrs between us somehow! Worst part about lock-ins {other than if your one of the ones how "gets" to stay up all night} is being the pick up person sooooo early in the AM! - Happy New Year!
PS - the movie is really cute. Nicole and I have been totally inspired in the kitchen since watching. I'm on the library hold list for a dvd of the real Julia, so Nicole can see what she was really like.
Great food is always a plus, you know!!??
I remember lock-ins as a youth...
I'm still wishing it was before Christmas again and wanting to do it all over again, differently...
But here's to a fabulous, wonderful 2010 full of learning and stretching and growing and examining ourselves closely!!
What a great way to begin 2010!
And I'm so glad you enjoyed your day in Astoria - we enjoyed the nice weather, too! Great photos, I love the beach with or without the fog. Can you believe we haven't climbed the Column since they reopened? We were there on the day it was ready but decided to wait until a day with fewer people (not too hard, especially during the week in the a.m.) We need to plan - if I don't, it doesn't happen!
Today was our first day back in school - not as hard as I thought it would be but different, after 2 weeks of sleeping in and playing!
Take care and God bless,
Kate
