One would think that after arriving home from a week at Creation and being absolutely exhausted, that we would just crash for the rest of the day. Not us…
Instead, we unpacked our stuff (we didn’t put it away or anything), took Will’s pics down to the fair, packed up a lunch, hitched up the boat and headed down to the river.
It was just too beautiful a day to stay home! Not to mention that it was our last day of vacation, one of the very few nice days we’ve had all summer, the first time we’d had the boat out (pathetic!) and WAY too hot in the house! And anyway, who can relax when you are surrounded by all kinds of junk to put away and dirty clothes that need washing???
The boat had a bit of trouble, so we decided to forgo the ride out to our favorite spot on Walker Island and instead just zipped across to the sandy beach just off the landing. Ok, we didn’t exactly zip there but we did make it! Whew!!!
Steven and Hobo weren’t entirely sick of being with us and joined us for the afternoon! We all had a great time and enjoyed introducing Max to the boat and beach for the first time!
He did really well in the boat but wasn’t quite sure about the water. Not to fond of waves…
What do you do when you’re on the beach??? Dig!!! I’m glad our puppy doesn’t like to dig as much as our boys do!
Andy chose a little more challenging spot for his hole!
After all that digging, it was time to cool off and clean up!
Not all of us chose to dig or swim… Some of us just sat in the shade or in the sun and read! Ahhh!!!
When it was time to eat supper we discovered that not one of us had brought a way to start a fire! Hard to believe, huh???
So we headed home, built a fire out back and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for supper! Just the way to end a fantastic week of vacation!!!
