Hawaii – Day Six The North Shore

We made our way through the city as quickly as possible and hopped on the highway heading north through the center of the island, right past the Dole Plantation.

hawaii day six 29 While the world’s biggest maze and the gift store wasn’t very tempting, we couldn’t resist a bowl of Dole whip!

hawaii day six 31Then we were right back on the road up to the North Shore.

Our first stop was Turtle Beach… a popular place to swim with sea turtles (in the summer). It was just too far into fall and the surf was much too rough to do any swimming. It was hard just to get a picture… but my determined husband snapped a couple of shots before moving on.

hawaii day six 38But that didn’t stop Chris one bit! He loved swimming in the surf! In fact I think he’s a surfer and didn’t even know it. Next time, honey! Next time…

hawaii day six 40 hawaii day six 39There was still one thing that we’d been waiting to do all day… snorkel! And Shark’s Cove was just the place to do it!

we took these pics as we were leaving

We were a little concerned when we got there and saw yellow caution tape strung up along the edge. But the water was full of people snorkeling. We asked the nearest local and he said the surf had been rough in the morning but it was just fine now! Whew!

So we grabbed our gear (thanks to the Osbornes letting us use theirs) and jumped right in!

hawaii day six 48flattering, huh??? LOL

We couldn’t believe how easy it was! The water is so salty and warm you just lay down and float! It is so relaxing and fun!

As you could see I was in my swimsuit in every single picture… hiking, swimming, hanging out at tourist spots. The weird thing was that it didn’t feel weird… Karen told me that I could go to the grocery store in a swimsuit and no one would notice before we went. I told her that I would NEVER go to the grocery store in my swimsuit. I went twice in one day! Just goes to show you should never say never… ;o)

That was a very good day!
