Atlanta History Center

For our final day in Georgia we headed to Atlanta to see some of it's attractions. First stop: the Atlanta History Center. The museum was full of exhibits about Atlanta's history. I took some pics of some of my favorites...

I don't remember anything about this car but I really liked it...

A map of Atlanta from 1864...

An actual reconstruction era carpetbag...

Coca Cola originated in Atlanta...

Beer bottle from Atlanta Brewing & Ice Co. circa 1890

WWI uniform...

On a return flight from a museum tour of Europe, 122 of Atlanta's cultural and civic leaders died when their plane crashed on take-off in Paris in 1962...

The first Girl Scouts troops started in 1921 and the first African-American troop in 1943 but didn't integrate until the 1960s..

I don't know who's chair this is???

This guitar was saved during the siege of Atlanta during the Civil War...

This diner was part of a display on Civil Rights...

You can ride the pink pig around the top of Rich's Department Store (now Macy's) starting in 1953...

It was a very well-done display that we really enjoyed! We learned a lot about the history of Atlanta here!
