Exploring Charleston

After our tour of Fort Sumter, we wandered around Charleston for a bit. The weather was good and we figured we'd better see what we could before Hurricane Matthew came into town. First was Waterfront Park and the fountains...

And Rainbow Row...

The buildings in Charleston have beautiful architecture and are so old. Some date back to before the Revolution!

Many houses still have real gas lamps...

We also decided to try some well-known Charleston treats at various restaurants around town: crayfish hushpuppies, shrimp, desserts.

Wandering the Old Market was also fun. But we noticed that businesses had begun sandbagging.

All afternoon the buzz grew about the impending hurricane. It was all the talk about town. At dinner we came to the conclusion that it was probably time to get back to the hotel...
