With Coronavirus still keeping everything shut down and National Parks open at limited capacity, it seemed a good time to visit one of the most popular Parks in the country: Yosemite. Unfortunately, reduced capacity meant a more difficult process for getting a coveted Day Pass. The 20% of passes still available are released at 7am forty-eight hours before they are to be redeemed. And much like passes for Rise of the Resistance at Disney, they are gone within 90 seconds. So we recruited William to help.
We woke up early on the morning we were leaving and logged in to get our pass. All 3 of us got a spinning "processing' ball within seconds of one another but only William got a confirmation email along with the discovery that as the pass holder he had to be in the vehicle with photo id. He changed his account name to Chris', we printed up our reservation and left.
Traffic was bad heading south and we finally made it to Tualatin to drop Max off to stay with Will for the week. While we were out buying poop bags and picking up dinner, we received the news that Falynne Karlowsky had been instantly killed a few hours earlier. Our hearts were saddened for her family and friends. William made the decision to fly out the following weekend to attend the funeral.
We made the decision to take the more scenic route through Reno, Nevada. So we continued south to a rest stop to sleep for the night. Then we got up early and headed towards Klamath Falls, Oregon. The country we drove through was beautiful and we saw many places we'd love to return to someday.
Then the road began to go through the high desert and then climb higher as we drove between Klamath Falls and Reno...
