Maui - Day One

Zack and Tatum love Maui! And since 2024 was their 10th anniversary, they decided to go back. Chris and I had never been there and they were so excited to share it with us, they invited us along! We started making plans nearly a year ago and it seemed like a very long wait. In fact, I started a countdown over 200 days before. But finally the day arrived...
We had to get up super early to make our flight from Seattle but it also meant that we arrived in Maui around 1:00 in the afternoon. The kids picked us up in the rental Jeep and we made our first stop at the Costco to pick up snorkeling gear and food for the week. My favorite treat we bought were the chocolate covered pineapple gummy bears! Yum! Chris got a chocolate chip cookie from the food court??? Our second stop was the kids' favorite fruit stand where we picked up all kinds of fresh tropical fruit and some fun food souvenirs...
And right next door was Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop. We couldn't decide so we got banana cream and chocolate mac nut pies. Both were delicious!
We got to the room (which was actually a gorgeous two-story condo with double decks and two baths), unpacked our stuff, I changed into my new romper I got at Costco but realized we still pretty full from pie...
So instead of going straight to dinner, we drove out to explore the Nakalele Blowhole. It was quite windy but it was an easy walk down to the blowhole and some pretty great views of the Pacific!
Not only was the blowhole pretty impressive but the rocks were super cool, too!
Then we grabbed a few pictures of us even though the heart-shaped hole in the rock was gone... :(
The views and the sunset on the way to dinner were very pretty but we were just too hungry to stop for long. Thankfully Chris got a few shots out of the car window...
The food and the beer at Maui Brewing were both very good but I guess we must have been too tired and too hungry to take any pictures. After a stop at the store for some cream for Tatum's coffee, we went back, set our alarms for the middle of the night and went to bed...
