Christmas Parade

For the first time since living in Longview, we decided we should go to the Christmas parade. Zack was in it again this year and that probably played a huge part in our decision.

After dropping Zack off to get his costume, we headed downtown to stake out our spot for the parade. Since we parked right in front of Heavenly Donuts, we stopped in a bought a dozen. They were so fresh and delicious that we ate a couple on our way to our spot.

Upon arrival on Commerce, we realized that we probably didn’t need to get there early to get a spot. So to kill time we browsed the pawn shop and music store. Despite our dawdling, we were still able to snatch up a prime spot on the parade route.

parade 30 Like in most small town parades, everyone is in it and there is plenty of candy to be had! Well, unless you’re a dentist. Then you throw out toothbrushes and toothpaste… Some businesses handed out coupons. We do feel a bit slighted that we did not get a free sample of Starbucks. :o(

Of course Santa ended the parade. Then we went back to the van, had another donut and went to pick up Zack.

I got a picture of "Yoshi" (the dinosaur) and the race car too. We were at the circle. We also got to see Zack this year.
Did you guys stay for the lighting ceremony?

Small towns are awesome. This year our city is in a big budget crisis, they can't afford to do any Christmas stuff. They just had a lighting thing anyway, no parade-
