Disney 2020 Day 3

Sunday was another cool cloudy day with another early start to try to get into a boarding group again for Rise of the Resistance. I guess we weren't the only ones with that idea. It's kind of strange to have to rope drop but so many people stand still while they desperately push the button on their phones trying to get in.

We had planned to end Saturday night with Big Thunder but it broke down (again). They gave us a free Fast Pass and since it's also a pretty cool way to start the day, we did...

Then we went back over to DCA for a few rides there.

Our boarding group was 54 but we noticed that they seemed to be going through the numbers pretty quickly. Not wanting to have to rush over, we went back to Disneyland to be ready when our group was called.

There were still a few things we hadn't done, so we figured we'd do some while we waited...

We took the rafts out to Tom Sawyer's Island and explored a bit. It's one of my favorite places to eat our lunch in the park. Unfortunately, our meal plan didn't work out how we'd hoped so no sack lunch on the island this trip. But we did find some treasure and made some new friends while enjoying a snack...

Exploring the island made everyone hungry. So we split up to get some lunch. At this point we realized the top boarding group number had stalled while waiting for the lower number to catch up. :/  But we did discover a little stand right on the river bank that served lobster rolls and sourdough bread bowls with chowder and lobster mac & cheese. We got one of each. Yum! 

Since none of us had ever ridden on the Columbia, we did it. It's a beautiful ship! My favorite part was exploring below deck...

The canoes were out, so we did that, too. It's not so much a ride as it is an exercise in patience. Not everyone at Disneyland is an expert paddler... ;)

Eventually our number came up and we walked right through the queue. It almost seemed to good to be true, just walking past places we'd stood a waited so long on Friday night. It was to good to be true. The line stopped in a tiny narrow hallway almost at the end. We waited and then a voice came over the loud speaker to tell us that the ride was down and that they did not know when it would be back up. We were willing to wait...

Every 5 minutes the voice returned to tell us the ride was still broken, they still had no idea when it would be fixed and if we needed assistance we could ask a cast member (like there were any nearby). After 90 minutes we'd had enough. We got out of line and lost our chance at going on the ride for the rest of the day. :( 

We had Fast Passes for World of Color, so it was back to DCA. We did some rides, watched Frozen at the Hyperion, had dinner and watched World of Color. 

I love the pier at night and the show is absolutely amazing!
