The Cannon Beach Conference Center offers a free four-day getaway for pastors and their families. A couple of weeks ago we decided to take advantage of the free accommodations and use up our last week of vacation for the year…
We got a pretty late (and VERY wet) start on Monday night and didn’t arrive until well after dark. After driving through a small lake complete with waves, thanks to an oncoming semi truck, to get here we were pretty sure we’d be hunkered down in the room with our books. We began to wonder just where the umbrella in the van had gone to???
But when we awoke this morning, the sun was out and the sky was blue! Not only was it sunny and dry but WARM! Even the breeze was warm! We wandered through town not even wearing jackets. What a blessing!!!
I got to stop at a few of our favorite shops in town and a couple of new ones as well… My favorite stop this morning was Bruce’s Candy Kitchen for a dark chocolate sea salt caramel! It was simply fantastic!!! I have to learn to make caramels like that!
We headed back to the room for lunch and a relaxing afternoon of playing games and reading on the balcony before low tide at Haystack Rock.
Thankfully the parking for Haystack Rock is right next to my favorite quilt shop! And just like always I found the perfect fabric waiting for me right inside the door…
And I just had to get this really cute chicken print, too!
The tide at the rock wasn’t all that low but the breakers were incredible! It makes you truly wonder at the awesome power of our God!!!
Just before heading out to fish & chips for supper we caught a glimpse of the sunset over the Pacific…
I wonder what we’ll do tomorrow???
